I am going to have to say that Overture to Candide is a good piece, but remember that this depends on the level of your wind ensemble. Our WE plays songs like Winds of Poseidon, and Invicta, and Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night. It all deopends on the level of music played.

Mine has always got to be..

It test your musicality, your range and everything else. And it's very fun to play :D

I whole heartedly agree with you on all of these pieces, but my favorite to play would have to be Hounds of Spring. Especially from a 2nd chair euphoniums point of view, and my best friend as the first chair euphonium.

However, I would have to add October(Eric Whitacre) to the list. and this is from the frst chair euphoniums POV.

Those are both great pieces. I didn't think of adding Rhapsody in Blue to my list since I didn't really think of it as a Wind Ensemble Piece, but it is one of my favorite pieces of music in general.

Our WE plays songs like Winds of Poseidon
ahhh....I LOVE Winds of Poseidon...I've never played it, but it's such a great piece to hear. I hope I'll play it sometime before I'm done with band.
