I'm agnostic which means that I basically believe in SOME higher power I just don't know what yet. My brother is a christian but he's only christian because the church he goes to gives him soda when he pays attention and they let him play gamecube. No offense to anyone who attends a "modern" church but I went to a service and I stuck out. I went to the adult service in a skirt and buttoned short sleeve shirt. I felt like I was wearing a formal dress at a night club. Christianity just didn't work for me.
When I was little, my grandma took care of me and raised me in the Jewish faith. My mom is catholic and I've gone to a couple services. One of my friends was buddhist. I have a variety of religious tastes. I even have mormon sampling. Sorry to put religions as foods, but, it worked for me. I don't know what I believe about God I just don't appreciate it when people try and convert me by saying that everything in my life, God is responsible for and when I ask them about the bad things they say it's making up for my sin. Of course I respond with "How does a 14 month old commit such a bad sin that they eat paint thinner?" It makes them stop preaching. That's just what I believe....

I believe that in order to be a Christian you have to understand the authority and then follow the bible in its entirety. Then there's the Old Testement which was nailed to the cross with Jesus, so its really the NT now and the OT as a source of history. I also don't think that it is right to "flaunt" your Christian-ness, don't have big prayers in public, etc. Think "See You At The Pole," Yeck.

I also abhore the "modern" churches (sorry!!) that try to lure you in with "soda" and a "Gamecube." That's not was God is about, church is not there for YOU, its to worship GOD, and not to entertain YOU. Its not there for YOU! Grrrrrr

Food Fot Thought:
- If Jesus was killed by a gun, would people wear guns around their necks?

Please don't be offended, I just want people to think!

OH...on reading Flagchild06's post again...I have something to say. (Maybe she could try out a more formal, "old-fashioned" church) Those who believe in the Lord and are baptised shall be saved (its forever imprinted in my head now...) and little babies do not believe! So... I don't believe that bad things are a reproach for your sin...I don't know where that idea even came from, sounds middle-ageish to me! Some want to say that God doesn't exist because he didn't pull their brother out of a vegetable-state coma or something. I don't believe that God performs miracles anymore, those were a thing of the 1st-century to awe-inspire people to become Christians. Now we have the bible. ANYWAY!

-If God was to stop all the bad things in the world, then wouldn't it be Heaven?

I do not agree with you at all. I believe that God performs miracles every single day of the week. The fact that you live through every day is a miracle. To believe that God does not perform miracles anymore, I believe, is to believe that there is no God. Every time a prayer is answered, it is a miracle. God is good, and is the same God today, as he was as you so aptly put it, in the 1st century.

That "idea" came from the Catholic church preaching it for 1500 years. For a long, long time, that is what was taught.

I was born catholic, raised in a baptist church, switched back to catholism, became agnostic my sophomore year of high school and don't really know right now.
