* Ode on A Dying Thread *
Oh my, how sad a dying thread can look
Far from its once adoring fans it lies
Though Vore might someday put it in his book
Today it sits, abandoned, and it cries,
"Why have all those who once sought out my VOICE
Forgotten me like a fallen drummer?
They march their forms, they don't look back; Alone.
That's how they left me. I don't have a choice,
I'm sentenced, stuck here from now 'til summer."
And so it goes, drones on and on, we know.
In glory days, they crowned him as their King,
Those Velvet Knights, with faces gaunt, watch'd him
A shining face, a screaming pose, a ding!
Together they, with horns held high, did win.
Or almost win, as the case is here,
But who will tell this old thread that curs'd lie.
What really counts - all marchers know - is heart.
And heart had they, the stoic ones, to share,
For even though their trophy went to another guy,
They held the field - they had run of charts!
