Post Whoring

Post by DJ-PsiLon » Sat Nov 30, 2002 12:36 am

Recently people have been posting often and trying to get the whole column with their name as the last post. I don't mind if that happens just as long as it doesn't turn into one word posts or replies with no meanings. Keep in mind also mass replies can degrade forum performance. By all means feel free to let topics develop but lets not make this a contest to see who is the top post whore.

Boy, I can't even sign off and enjoy a little family time without things getting out of control, eh? Well, if the kidies want to make it a contest to see how many meaningless and useless postings they can make in a short period of time, I have the perfect first, second and third place prizes. For the top finishers I will deactivate their accounts one day for every posting they make. Does that sound fair? Let the contest continue, I dare you! :x

Deleting your posting

Post by Bandmaster » Sat Nov 30, 2002 3:00 am

As long as it is still at the end of the thread you can delete it at any time. As soon as somebody replies you are out of luck. I can delete any posting, so you could request that I delete it for you. Just like I did to your postings under "Band Humor". :P

my apologies

Post by Cole167888 » Sat Nov 30, 2002 5:38 pm

I'm really sorry for anyone that I offended..I never was in it for a "contest" or anything..I just replied to anything I had something to say. I never meant to be rude or make anyone angry..I guess I got carried away. OK, this is my last post so..goodbye everybody!!

Apology accepted! We don't want to scare you away, just keep you from the appearance that you are dominating the Off-Topic forum. At one point, your name ws listed as the last poster on every topic in this forum. It made it look like you were trying to set a record or something. When you post messages that fast, are you really saying anything of importance or just typing words so you can click the "submit" button?

You should note that nobody else seems to want to post to the Off-topic forum now. The topics all appear to have been "hi-jacked." I have seen other forums get dragged into the gutter because too many of its members do just that, and pretty soon there is no more conversation... just a series of three or four word incomplete sentences or trading smilies faces back and forth.

I hope none us want that to happen here. You are more than welcome to keep posting, just don't feel the need to have to answer every single topic all at once. Give others a chance to become envolved as well.

I know I'm starting to post a lot too - sorry. It's just that I'm excited about all this stuff. Deleting posts though? I thought this was a forum. I'm a journalism student and that doesn't exactly sound right to me. Thanks and I'm sorry.

No, you haven't yet! As long as you don't try to post to every topic within 5 minutes. Those postings were deleted because they posted and were adding comments on a VERY distasteful and crude joke. They changed the subject of the topic and gragged it into the gutter, so what else could I do?
