I agree with Phantom. Me, a trumpet player! But for the past few weeks I've been listening to some cool songs that really make me want to switch to the euphonium. Such a deep, warm, rich sound...well, I doubt that I'll ever switch to that instrument. For now, it's all about playing high and having good technique. TRUMPETS RULE.

Trumpets would be nicer if they were in smaller numbers. It seems the case most often is everybody wants to play trumpet, and each of those wants to be louder than the person/s next to him.

I'll throw my support to the low brass, they are the foundation of a band.

Forget Low Brass! Trumpets Take The Cake!

Post by stbbdtpt3 » Thu Dec 19, 2002 8:55 am

Very good point MaxWest...Everyone DOES want to play trumpet. Why, you ask? Only because it's the BEST instrument in the world! And Trumpet Man 05- what the heck are you thinking? Are you sure you're a tpt player? Cause no true tpt player would switch to the dark side. :maul: aka: low brass :jester: hehe The only who seems to be thinking right is the one who started this post. He knows what it's about. Trumpets Rule :king: .....that's right-FOREVER!!!!! 8-)
...i know this'll start some controversy... :twisted:

Proof that Trumpets Rule

jrichmond68=rule-age(see sig :wink: )
AND
jrichmond68=trumpet player
.
SO . .

trumpet player=rule-age :!:

there you have if, mathematical proof :read: that trumpet players rule.

Any of you guys who can't admit that trumpets rule are just stuck up that you didn't start off playing it when you had the chance. Oh, and by the way, the lowbrass section does determine whether the band lives or dies. If you have one, you die. It's as simple as that.

Why trumpets are inferior to trombones/low brass...

Post by JazzTBone123 » Tue Jan 07, 2003 2:18 pm

Ladies and gentlemen of the original bugle/cornett...
It was late in the history of the world when trombones were exclusively used in orchestral work, 1808 by Beethoven, to be exact. But then again, the valved instrument was created in the early 19th century...1808??? hmm...
Well, Mendelssohn expresses the glory of trombone over the trumpet, "The trombones are too sacred for frequent use."
Trumpets WILL NEVER be able to attain the sonorous timbre of the trombone.
-Trumpets think they are the best, TROMBONES know they are the best!

AHHhhh... but no!

Post by LittleFerg » Tue Jan 07, 2003 6:15 pm

You state a good point Mr. JazzTBOne, but I must offer you my persuasive rebutle. It is ironic that you bring up Mendelssohn in your supportive quote against trumpets, when he himself was not only a trumpet player, but an egotistical one at that. Mendelssohn also finds in his research, "The Ancient Egyptian trumpets were SACRED and were played only in the WORSHIP of Osiris." He also states that a trombone is mearly a "push-pull trumpet," and boy I coudn't agree more! Smart man, this Mendelssohn. Seems to me like he has got his musical priorities in line. 1) Trumpets rule 2) Trombone's don't (push-pulls). Ahh yes. So to argue your incredibly inacurate statement, trombones will never be superior to the trumpet. Well, maybe they will... until they wake up! Trumpets rule!! For-e-ver!
Thank you, a-thank you
