T2...yay!
Only thing with college internet is that is randomly cuts out...ALOT!
And since practically everyone used AIM at college, you got mass networking issues, because we are all essentially connected to the same server, which is so brilliantly called ResNet.

i use dsl except i hate my ISP!! i can never stay online on aim for more than 3 hours. it always quits and restarts at a 3 hour interval and that way my profile will never say i've been on for 15 days...

oh yeah and more about my isp.. my download and upload are under the levels on what they are SUPPOSED TO BE.
did i mention putting people on hold for 36 hours..... i had no internet for a week once and i kept resseting modem, router, and tried just connecting directly to the modem so i KNOW it's not the router's fault. and then when i got hold on to the "help" hotline service thing they told me to go look around and do useless things. a week later after my internet first went down they finally fixed it. turned out it was there fault (well DUH!). oh and i loved the perfect timing of their screw up. i had a math project where i had to use this special resource (bridges) that my school pays for online. i had to cram all my work in that one day when my internet was back up again! what a rush!
if u know of a good isp tell me!

Heh. I've got 56k at home, but at work I have a fiber optic connection. Dunno the exact speed, but it blows T1 out of the water.

Bleh...5 gigs of dowload a week, and 2 gigs of upload. Thats all we get. Then they pull the plug on you...

I've got cable internet through Comcast. What was the first thing I did? I watched the trailer for LOTR: FOTR.

I couldn't stop drooling that night.

I have cox cable, it works pretty well except for that one time this summer when it was down a few days. Sometimes it's a little slow though.

go get a good firewall and get a router so that you don't have your computer connected directly to the modem

Thinking about upgrading?

Post by Wildabeast » Thu Nov 20, 2003 10:16 pm

If you're ever thinking about upgrading to dsl or cable, check out http://www.dslreports.com. You can do some research on what's available and the reliability.
