Re: Down with the TSA
I heard this on the news today. Typically I err on the side of caution/security but, that recording was a bit intense... especially the ending where TSA promises a lawsuit. I absolutely love living in a country where anyone can tell an official "don't touch my junk."

Re: Down with the TSA
Not easy.
Flying is a privilege, not a right. Yes, but so is driving. And the courts have repeatedly determined that the government is not allowed to stop and search you without probable cause. Why should the standards for airline travel be any different?

Shall we just get over ourselves. Believe it or not, there is a war going on. I'm not talking about the fighting in Afghanastan or Iraq, but a much darker, unpublished war against the Islamist extremists that want to attack our country. The TSA agents are going to be seeing thousands of bodies a day. The're not going to remember you. My only worry is that someone might be carrying a bomb in back of me. My naked body will burn the eyes out of the TSA.

Re: Down with the TSA
Just blame the "polically correct" mentality in our government for this mess! Cries of discrimination if we dare to profile the "obvious" threat, making it manditory to treat everyone the same, even if it make no sense! Oh yeah... it also compounds the cost of security more than 10 fold! Why don't those that cry discrimination blame those that plan the attacks? They are the real cause of the inconvenience! And folks wonder why the average citizen distrusts the government....
Oh BTW... I saw a news story today that a government agency has had a security breach and 35,000 full body scans, that were saved to a government hard drive, have been somehow released and are now posted to a website for the world to see. I hope no one here will be embarassed.

Re: Down with the TSA
Israel deals with a FAR greater terrorism threat... and they handle it with less inconvenience to the passengers and with a greater success rate.

Amazing stat from article: Tel Aviv's airport hasn't had a single security breach in EIGHT YEARS.

You gotta know it is an obvious screw up when both Kevin and I are in TOTAL agreement!

Re: Down with the TSA
Great... just great. I was bored one day so I took the photo of a scan right off the TSA website to see what it looked like. After importing it to Photoshop it literally took 2 mouse clicks to make it full color again. Glad nobody in the government was that smart...whew...Bandmaster wrote:Oh BTW... Gizmodo has released photos and a video montage of images taken at a courthouse. Security officials said that the machine was not capable of saving images. They were wrong.

I would never sacrifice liberty for personal safety.
Furthermore, terrorism is SO EASY to accomplish that I highly doubt there is an extensive well funded global terror cell network with hundreds of sleeper agents. I'm not saying that terrorism doesn't exist, but the threat is highly exaggerated. Its just too difficult to protect all our infrastructure thus all our focus on air travel security is absurd.

Re: Down with the TSA
I heard a good one about the TSA today. This one happened sometime in the last year. Apparently the military chartered 300 seats a commercial flight to bring home soldiers from Afghanistan. When they got to their stop over entering the US, the TSA took them off the plane and held them for hours in in area without food or vending machines. Then they proceeded to search them and all their equipment and personal belongings, even though the military did that when they left the middle east and they had already been cleared by customs! The TSA confiscated the soldiers' personal fingernail clippers, pocket knives and their gerber utensils (folding fork & spoon for eating meals) but allowed them to reboard the plane with their M1 rifles, side arms and 12" long combat knives! Can anyone say "use a little common sense?" They did this to our soldiers returning home from a tour of combat duty in Afghanistan... is anyone with a brain in charge?

Borderline? I imagine so. In any case, slap one onto your carry on before you go through.
