Roaming

is this a function that can be turned off? the roaming icon just popped onto my phone recently and idk whether it's good or bad. :?:

Roaming means you're outside your standard service area. It's generally bad, as most telecom companies charge exorbitant roaming rates.

It always amazed me how the instant I crossed the county line, my phone would light up the "roaming" message. It was kind of creepy too.

I didn't even know roaming still existed. Even with my cheap-o plan with no texting and a phone I got for free, I have unlimited use throughout the continental U.S. I would suggest looking into a new company and pricing plan. There are plenty of free phones out there if you're willing to sign a contract. I even saw some QWERTY phones at Verizon Wireless at Costco that were free.

Yes, 'roaming' is not found very often these days.
But it is a bad thing.
usually when someone hears the word roaming (concerning phones) the word you think of next is charges.
So be careful!
