Last Week: 10-6
Overall: 135-73 (.649)

Minnesota over Chicago
I don't think Minnesota's that great, but I can't take Chicago. Now that they have been eliminated from the playoffs, the Bears are likely to give the start to Rex Grossman. I can't choose a team whose QB is making his NFL starting debut.
Cincinnati over San Francisco
Cincinnati has won four straight at home, and will be playing at home for the first time in a month. With their playoff lives at stake. San Francisco is 0-6 on the road and won't make the playoffs. The more desperate team usually wins in the NFL, so look for the hungry Bengals to extend the Niners' road woes.
Indianapolis over Atlanta
Michael Vick is back and looking like the Vick of 2002. Of course, that won't matter as Peyton Manning shreds the Falcons' 31st ranked pass defense for 375 yards and 4 TDs.
Kansas City over Detroit
The Chiefs are 6-0 at home and have won those games by an average of more than 15 points. This is a no-brainer.
New England over Jacksonville
The last time an opponent score a touchdown in Gillette Stadium outside of Boston? OCTOBER 5TH. October, folks. The Patriots have won their last four home games 12-0, 12-0, 9-3, and 17-6. Sixteen quarters, no TDs. I like the Jags, and think they're better than most people give them credit for; but a win here is asking too much.
New York Jets over Pittsburgh
What do Steelers #2 WR Plaxico Burress, Bucs DL Warren Sapp, and Ravens SS Ed Reed have in common? Two TDs this season. Pennington was cooled off by a solid Bills pass defense last week, but should get back into the groove versus the Steelers. The Jets are allowing under 17 points per game at home this season.
St. Louis over Seattle
This seems to be the week for poor road teams to face home field juggernauts. The Seahawks are 1-5 on the road, the Rams are 6-0 at home. Marshall Faulk's been red-hot and the Rams are on fire. With as good as the Rams' defense has looked recently, I think it could be a long day for the boys from the Pacific Northwest.
Tampa Bay over Houston
Florida: where offenses go to die. Jacksonville, Miami, and Tampa Bay all have solid defenses. Houston got pasted by Jacksonville last week, and I highly doubt that Dave Ragone will lead them to victory against the Bucs Cover 2.
Tennessee over Buffalo
Buffalo's passing game is inept, so they'll need to rely on RB Travis Henry again (he torched the Jets last week for 169 yards and a TD). That would be fine if it weren't for the fact that the Titans haven't allowed an opposing back to rush for 100 yards in Nashville for over THREE YEARS (10/16/00, to Fred Taylor of the Jacksonville Jaguars).
Dallas over Washington
Dallas has scored ten points total in their last three road games. TEN. They won't score many this week, either, but with the Redskins' banged-up line and the fact that QB Ramsey is done for the season, the Skins' might not score ANY.
Denver over Cleveland
Here's the only thing you need to know: Denver RB Clinton Portis' performance the last three weeks - 70 carries for 553 yards, 6 receptions for 66 yards, 7 TDs, 0 fumbles. Insane. Unless the Browns sign God to play on their defensive line they don't stand a chance.
Baltimore over Oakland
Hm. Baltimore hasn't allowed a rushing TD in four games, and the Raiders passing game is horrible. The Ravens have one of the best running backs in football and the Oakland has THE WORST run defense in football. Tough call, this one. </sarcasm> Baltimore wins, 45-0.
Okay, I've just spent the last half-hour laughing hysterically at something entirely inappropriate (which I can't upload here, email me if you're interested). I'm too tired to comment on the rest.

It was my idea...
I don't get much in this pool...not even correct picks...but lemme have a tiebreaker I developed!
My..aren't I pathetic?

Actually, I've decided not to participate in this week's football pool. I have been doing horribly recently, and I think I need a week off...better now than the playoffs, huh?
We need to develop a system for the playoffs. Once we know the teams...we just make picks straight to the superbowl, you know?

I wish I had put in my picks...
Turns out I didn't need a week off...I would have gotten 13 out of the first 14 games.
Missed Oakland over Baltimore.
Oh well.

Yep, I got 12 of 14. Missed Chicago and Oakland.
I agree. After Week 17 I'll post an NFL playoffs "flow-chart." You'll have to pick the winners of each game (11 total, I think, including the Super Bowl). Which means if you miss a whole bunch of wild-card round games, you're screwed!formermarcher wrote:We need to develop a system for the playoffs.
