Protein bar

Post by Ryan H. Turner » Wed Jul 30, 2008 11:37 am

Probably not the MOST appropriate discussion forum to put this on, but since I'm a regular "oldee" here, I figured I'd ask the following question anyway.

Does anyone use or recommend a good protein bar that is LOW or LOWER in carbs, especially the BAD carbs. I need to start supplementing my way of eating with a NEW way of eating, and shed about....oh....I don't know....152.3 pounds to be exact.

I exaggerate. But still....

So--recommendations please for what you consider to be a good tasting, high protein, low bad carb, protein bar that I can use to supplement or even replace a meal per day.

Thank you.

Since you are "old" you could go to 3 meals a day of Ensure. :duck:

See my PM re: my nutrition and exercise plan. I've lost 12 lbs. in 5 weeks following it (with my doctor's approval and monitoring). Woot!

The thing you've got to watch out for is that many of those protein bars are LOADED with sugars, which doesn't exactly make them healthy.

My wife does a protein drink (not a shake) in the mornings; I'll let you know what brand when I get home.

You'd be surprised how many people actually believe that. You're better off with a Slim Fast float as a desert.

I don't eat protein/health bars I eat energy bars. Soldier fuel (formerly known as HOOAH! Bar) is pretty good but not what you are looking for. It has more calories and fat than what most people are looking for but it tastes great and you can get full off 1 bar. great way to kick start your day especially if your mornings are physically demanding.

I missed this when you put it up.

My secret for losing weight was going to outdoor buffets here eating strange food, then being told what it was after eating it. I went from 225 pounds in November 2006 to 175 pounds in March 2007. That's fifty pounds! I went to my (Canadian) doctor here who said a lot of people go through this when they move here.

The funny thing is, now at 179 pounds, the Vietnamese still think of me as an obese giant!

That is a sentence that never should have been spoken. Why did you have to do that?
