I like making my picks on Tues. while the following weeks games are still fresh in my memory. Besides if something comes up like an injury or something, you can always make changes to your picks up until the deadline.

I'll be moving the kid to the dorms Sunday so I'm going to miss almost every single game. *sigh* ... wait! since I hate football it doesn't really matter huh? (this is why I bowl on Sundays at 5 pm)

Laffo. I bowl on Sundays at 7pm. I usually get to see the second half of the Sunday night game while I'm bowling.

I would bowl more often if it wasn't so expensive compared to pool. The fun factor is about equal, but pool is a fraction of the price.

If you join a bowling league, you get money back at the end (and usually some other perks). I think last Winter league (Sept 07 - May 08) we ended up getting about $120 per person in winnings, and we were a middle-of-the-pack team.

Back on topic, I usually make my picks on Wednesday or Thursday, since the "official" NFL injury report for the upcoming weekend comes out every Wednesday.

$8.00 per week per point ($144.80 for our team) PLUS 1 night at The Orleans in Vegas PLUS last week championships bowled at The Orleans PLUS sidepots for team and individual paid (about $300 per person average). Return On Investment is about 45% on $20 a week for 33 weeks. The rest is for use of lanes and trophies/awards. Not too shabby really.

Sorry Marianne ... back to the regularly scheduled football games.

Well look for low scores this week. What with all the upsets and all, Miami over New England, who woulda thunk it? Even with Matt Cassel at the reins I don't think anyone saw this one coming. Not to mention Jacksonville beating Indianapolis, or Minnesota getting the W vs. Carolina. On the bright side though, the Niners play New Orleans in week 4 and New England in week 5 who both just suffered losses, so hopefully we can pull off some upsets of our own.

I think I'll give explanations too ;)

Sunday, September 28th
1. San Francisco 49ers@ New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees is a turnover machine, and will be evident facing a better defense than Denver's. The 49ers offense now looks pretty decent without Alex Smith.

2. Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs
No-brainer here. Kansas City will be lucky to get any wins with the way they're approaching this season. Unfortunately that means Denver will have another big offensive day, and Cutler will once again get a lot of praise.

3. Arizona Cardinals @ New York Jets
I would love to see the Cardinals have a winning season for a change and their offense looks alright. The New York "Bretts" on the other hand still look like the same team from last year.

4. Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers
Carolina's first two wins were flukes (and you can blame the Chargers for that), and their offense didn't respond well to Minnesota's defensive pressure. I think the difference in this game will be Michael Turner, and he'll be able to open up Atlanta's passing game later.

5. Minnesota Vikings @ Tennessee Titans
This is a tough one. We're talking about two *somewhat* backup quarterbacks against two of the best defensive lines in the league. But I just can't see Tennessee winning this one, I don't know what it is...but it'll be close.

6. Green Bay Packers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Call me crazy but I think Aaron Rodgers is overhyped and Al Harris might be out for the season. Brian Griese big game on Sunday might have been a fluke, but it WAS against the Bears defense in Chicago. Both offenses are good but Tampa Bay's defense will be the factor as they get the best of Aaron Rodgers.

7. Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are looking to get back on track, and what better way to do it than against Houston's horrible defense (Mario Williams the only guy??). If the Jaguars running game fails then things might get ugly with the overrated David Garrard throwing the ball, but that won't happen.

8. Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals
Oh boy! It's the battle of the losers!!! Seriously, they're both garbage now and they'll be garbage for the rest of the season as they're in the AFC North division and have to play the NFC East all season. That's four easy losses for each team, Steelers included. A close game loss to Giants for Bengals + quarterback controversy in Cleveland = Bengals win.

9. San Diego Chargers @ Oakland Raiders
This is truly "Air Norv" for the Chargers offense. The defense will show up soon. Chargers will get their 10th consecutive win over the Raiders and tie the record for most consecutive wins against one opponent. (Steelers have won 10 straight over the Browns)

10. Buffalo Bills @ St. Louis Rams
Buffalo is now probably the team to beat in the AFC East, the Rams are the worst team in the league along with the Chiefs.

11. Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
Washington is overrated, due in part to the division they're in. Dallas might have the most balanced team in the league right now and is looking good. This won't be as close as many want to think.

12. Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears
The Eagles look good, the Bears don't. The Eagles are clicking on offense and defense, the Bears aren't. The Eagles will win, the Bears won't.

Monday, September 29th
13. Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Kinda like the VIkings/Titans matchup only with the two best defenses in the league with slightly better offenses. This will be a very close low scoring game, but Pittsburgh will win.

Bonus Question 1: What will be the Point Spread of Game# 12 ( Philadelphia Eagles vs Chicago Bears )?
17

Bonus Question 2: What will be the Final Total Points of Game# 13 ( Baltimore Ravens vs Pittsburgh Steelers )?
34
