Yeah I gave up on valedictorian when I took band in middle school--because I didn't get ahead in language so I can't take year five (without summer work, bleh). 
I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you get numbers worthy of a good school then as everyones pointed out four years of band is golden.
And with AP tests, most of the time, a 5 is ~66-70% right.
Gotta love that.
It's no wonder many schools don't take them at face value...
