so, today, my girl and i were arguing over what a piano is classified as.

i say it's a percussion instrument but she says it's a string instrument.

we looked it up and found both classifications.

so which one is right??? i can't stand to be in the grey area when it comes to instruments!!!!!!

Hmm... I was under the impression that it was a keyboard instrument.

Technically it's a percussion instrument, just like the celesta or hammer dulcimer, because the sound is made by the performer "striking" the keys. The performer is not directly interfacing the strings. Think of it this way: how would you classify the organ? No "strings" to produce the sound there. It's a percussion instrument also.

I'll second that. Because if you're right, you'll STILL be wrong in so many different ways. Ohhhhhhhhhhh...sooooooooooooo many different ways.

It's a percussion instrument, but if your girl asks we'll tell her it's a string.

The piano could also be a chordophone

Remember this phrase....and apply with a serious look (if you can, this may take some practice!)

"You know what dear, you are absolutely correct. I should listen to you more often."

Then calmly walk to another room and yell into a pillow.

Being right means nothing if the wife (or g/f) is mad......trust me!

Of course you could always apply the Cobra Kai motto....

"Sweep the leg."
