Oi, I had to pull that old internet thing out of nowhere...

So, I got...

- Socks
- PJs
- Books on Disneyland (Yay, books on where I work!)
- A DVD about Disneyland (Yay, a DVD on where I work!)
- The Pixar Shorts DVD
- Simpsons Movie DVD
- Money
- To go to work!

Annnnnnnd...!

- iPhone

Yeah, they kinda shocked me when I opened up the iPhone. I wasn't expecting anything big really. I didn't ask for much as I guess getting a job this year and seeing how much everything costs this year kinda sobered me up on wanting stuff. But I guess Im also counting getting my job back with Disney as the best thing this time of year.

Actually, it's true. I got a shipment of rocks for a fountain I'm building for my garden.

Why don't you just take rocks from the side of the road? Seems like they're not doing anything there...

Why are rocks so expensive? Can't you just go hiking and like take a bunch home with you?

Because 8 cubic yards of rock don't fit in my pocket or my pickup truck.

No. Not unless that's a ten-year project you'd like to embark upon.

Having a mother-in-law who recently re-landscaped her entire backyard, I can assure you that you don't understand the quantity (or quality) required. You really need smooth, polished river rocks for most landscaping purpose, and I can tell you from personal experience that it took TWO 40-pound bags of river rocks to cover a semi-circle area with a radius of only 18" to a depth of only 2-3" (ie, enough to hide the plastic liner beneath it.

Multiply that by eight of said semi-circles, and add to that a 20-foot long artificial river-bed that runs from their new waterfall to the recirculating pond... and I'd guess-timate that their landscapers shipped in 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of river rock just to cover a tiny fraction of ONE backyard.

You want to haul all that in a backpack? Fine by me. But a whole lotta rock goes a surprisingly little way in the world of landscaping.
