Snow yes; skiing no.
Gotta do Mammoth. Bottom line.
At the moment, Colorado is humming. California is expected to join the party shortly. Utah is looking good at 2 ft of packed powder and another 6 to 12 inches expected in the next 48 hours. Locally I like Big Bear Mountain for snowboarding and Snow Summit for traditional skiing, with Mt. High being a big too crowded either way for my tastes.

If you happen to be in the Middleton area, you'll be part of Ryan H. Turner History...as if you should stop what you're doing right this second and CARE ABOUT THAT!!!

Or Jainesville.

Or Madison (for obvious reasons).

I REALLY like Wisconsin, but based on what I've read on another forum by people that actually live there, I guess it's one step away from a socialist state--high taxes, tree huggers, baby seal lovers...blah blah blah...

Bridger Bowl and Big Sky Resort both have good bases to start the season and a bunch of fresh snow over the last few days. Just to clarify, Bridger is 15 miles from where I live in Bozeman, Mt, and Big Sky is 45 minutes south of here on US 191, so if any of you decide to branch out to find some real snow  and head up this way give me a holler.

Utah - "The Best Snow on Earth!" Says it right on the license plates. Some killer snowboarding runs.
Go read "Ishmael" a novel by Daniel Quinn. It will literally change your life.

That why my wife and I will be moving there in a few years.

We have lots of friends that live in Wisconsin. Yes, it's pretty liberal for a midwestern state (Madison even more so). I don't know about the taxes, but since you can buy a home there for under $200k I'd say that balances out. The best part is that I'm going to try to keep my job and telecommute. Wisconsin cost of living + San Diego salary? Score!
