NO MORE MARCHING BAND ...

Post by fieldshowqueen » Tue Nov 27, 2007 5:45 pm

Not to be a kill joy ...
But how many of you AREN'T (*gasp!*) doing anything marching band, drum corps, winter guard or winter drum line, or Holiday Festival related this weekend?? I'll start ...
My oldest and I are: 1) Finishing college apps and 2) starting some scholarship apps; 3) dry dec'ing the Kiwanis float at the Rosemont Pavillion in Pasadena while 4) listening to the UCLA/USC game (go Trojans!!!); then 5) finishing 2 physics projects (an egg drop box and a balsa wood bridge)
My youngest and I are: 1) Finishing her English portfolio essay (20% of her grade) and 2) possibly finishing Xmas shopping on Sunday after 3) setting up the mini holiday village on the piano which will probably entail 4) going to JoAnn's and buying more fakey snow and more village components.
*FOOTNOTE*: When I say "we", they are actually doing the work ... I am supplying the car, fuel, cash, and typing skills for various essays and lab reports.

I will be AT the game.

In fact, here is the schedule I will be following:

6 am: Leave home in Chino.
7 am: Sectionals at USC
8 am: Full band rehearsal
9 am: Dismiss
9 am-11:30 am: Eat as much as possible at the tailgate with my friends, while trying to get a short nap.
11:30 am: Call-time at Heritage Hall; warm-up and tune the band.
11:50 am: Step-off and march to Colisseum, and play 3 concerts on the way.
~1:00 pm: March down the peristyle.
~1:10 pm: Pre-game show.
1:30- 5:00 pm : Gametime!
~5:00 pm: Post-game concert
~5:30 pm: March back to campus
~6:00 pm: Dismiss
Back home by 8 pm.

Long day, but a GREAT day.
