I think I'm going to take this season off... I'm having a hard enough time getting all my homework done as it is without something else to distract me.

Well, what quality of music and drill did you pay for?

I went with 9 minutes of "very high" (4/5) quality music and 75 pages of very high quality drill.

The best part, however, is that I kept getting really high scores when learning the drill. Each hour spent on drill will learn 2-5 charts; I kept getting lots of 4s and 5s and almost no 2s. In the end, we learned all 75 pages in only 19 hours, so I still have a ton of time left to contribute to stats.

AND I'm not competing the first week of the season. Our first show isn't until the 20th I think. I'll post my schedule once it's finalized.

Oh, and sign up for my competition (Crown of Canada on 10/24). It will have a parade competition, too.

Feel free to sign up for my parade competition, too. Just send me an email or sign up in the FMB forums. I left everyone a guestbook entry on FMB.

You email me and say "I want to sign up for the parade." :)

The parade/concert/whatever competitions aren't "run" by FMB: the host person can choose to make their events more elaborate. Wayne Wildt (Florida Dragon Vanguard) runs an incredibly detailed competition the last day of every season (Dragon Festival of Music). It's got a parade, concert band competition, drumline competition, guard I&E competition... he sends out director's packets and everything.

Eventually I might create director's packets and have "formal" applications. Not this season, though.

I can't access the FMB forums from work, but tonight when I get home I'll post the link to the Crown of Canada thread for more information. (Or, you can go to "forums" off the FMB main site, find the subforum called "Invitational Discussion" and find the thread titled "Crown of Canada.")

This is definitely interesting. Two things seem odd to me:

1) "Spend an hour on Nothing" to increase Morale? I don't buy it. When you're at rehearsal, you're there to rehearse. Not twiddle your thumbs. Maybe if it was "Spend an Hour Teambuidling," or "Spend an Hour 'Having Fun'" I'd accept it. But "Nothing"?!?!?!

2) The competitions are VERY close together. Is each one supposed to represent a seperate weekend of a long season? Or am I supposed to take it at face value.
It's 5:00... do you know where your ancestors came from?
