Dont you hate it when you are writing an essay, you decide to take a short nap and then when u wake up it's 3 in the morning!?

also, does your school require you guys to learn jane shaffer format. i think it's the dumbest thing to learn in the world. i can get my essays more expressive and meaningful without following some template

it's "required" to know the schaffer format, but all you're doing is basically repeating the same thing over and over and over...

I hate both things, the sleeping and the format part.

Having read and graded a few essays in my time, I think that most people need to learn how to form a coherent idea and back it up rationally. Then they need to communicate that idea in writing, as efficiently and effectively as possible. Some essays I have read hardly have a legible sentence and lack a focus. Please do not get me started on the spelling and grammar...

i use the MLA format when i cite things in my bibliography

i dont mind doing that cuz that's simple and doesnt ruin the effectiveness of the essay

try writing 4, 5 page essays in 3 hours...by hand

when you're writing timed essays, format and grammer get thrown out the door. as long as you express your ideas clearly and back them up well, you'll be set.

ugh those essays we highschoolers have to write and get a score (1-5) in 2 hours or somthing we HAVE to use JANE SHAFFER FORMAT!!! GAH!!! if u dont ur score gets lowered for not using proper format. but then my score gets lowered for not being as expressive as a 5 essay

oh one thing i hated most.. writing prompt: what makes me proud to be an american.. I AM NOT AN AMERICAN! nor did they provide me with an alternate prompt. i am a flip citizen not an american citizen but that does not make me an illegal imigrant. dont get me started on dumb americans saying "if you're not an american you are an illegal immigrant"

i have never read a good essay in that jane shaffer format. some come out decently which is starting to happen to me and the rest is either bad or didnt use the format and got points off.

why did they even bother to teach and to force us to use this format. it sucks and it doesnt help us write better

It does suck. All the essays I write using the format suck but if I don't use it, I get points off and my grade doesn't end up much better.
