If you ever get a chance (specifically you SoCalers), go see Gordon Goodwin live. I have yet to see him live, but his CD "Swingin' for the Fences" rocks (in jazz terms). I'm sure CSUN is proud of him.
I believe the Big Phat Band frequents the Jazz Bakery in Studio City. I hope the next time I come down, I can check it out.
