New York Skyliners January 2005 Schedule

Post by DSGMUSIC » Sat Jan 08, 2005 12:43 pm

Celebrating our 60th Anniversary, the N. Y. Skyliners' 2005 production is: Night and Day In NYC. The show will present the sights and sounds of a day in the life of the greatest city in the world. Utilizing the music of some of New York's favorite composers including Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter, and Dizzy Gillespie, the corps will take the audience on a walking tour of the rich and diverse culture for which the great city is known.

We are currently rehearsing in a state of the art facility - Pocono Mountain H.S. East in Swiftwater, PA, and invite interested brass players, percussionists, and color guard members to stop down at an upcoming rehearsal to see what the excitement is all about.

The upcoming rehearsal schedule is:

Date: SUNDAY, JANUARY 9
Time: 11:00 - 4:00
Place: Pocono Mountain High School East

Sat., January 22
12:00 - 7:00 P.M.
Pocono Mountain High School East

Sun., January 23
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Pocono Mountain High School East

Directions can be found at:

Our new corps Director, Ralph Marino, is taking the corps in new and exciting directions. He has put together a design and educational team that brings centuries of drum corps teaching, writing and performing experience on all levels - DCA, DCE, DCA and DCUK - not to mention experience in numerous band circuits in the Northeast - to the corps.

Show Coordinator is Tim Bartholomew. Staff Coordinator is Robert Fizette. Brass Arranger is John Arietano. Percussion/Front Ensemble Arranger is Edward D. Argenziano. Visual Design is by Peter Rehill. Color Guard Designer & Caption Head is Daniel Bostic. A number of our staff members live and/or teach in the Pocono Mountain and Stroudsburg, PA areas.

Have FUN and BELONG to a great group of people. 60 YEARS of history . . . be a part of it ! !

:-). I feel like I just watched a commercial. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. Thank you.

But seriously, sounds fun. Too bad I live in Cali...
It's 5:00... do you know where your ancestors came from?

New York Skyliners January 2005 Schedule

One thing that I think we have all discovered is that thanks to the Internet & technology & transportation, that drum corps is not just national, but international.

You would be surprised at how many people move into the NY/NJ/PA area and contact corps like the Skyliners once they are on the East Coast. It does not hurt to let people in the activity know what you are doing.

Similarily, on DCP, corps all over the U.S. post even though there is no chance of me being able to join a corps in the Midwest or West Coast. It is still interesting and topical to nkow what is going on.

Thanks.
