The auditioning brass players were given three homework assignments by the new brass caption head until the next camp. One of them was to do this, get players to come to the next camp. Okay, here's my sales pitch to all those perspective members of the 2004 hornline: how awsome would it be for you to be a member of the last remaining true drum and bugle corps, to be a person who is a walking legend, the first camp is done, the second coming up extremely quick in Cheyenne, WY. I can not say anything about the corps or its musical selections this year, cause we aren't exactly sure yet. But if you are still shopping around for a corps? Stop looking!!!!! The answer is in Casper, Wyoming. If you want to be a badass... if you want to be a legend... be a Trooper.

I must admit that triplet is right, the Troopers are truly a great corps and the more members we (they) get, the better. I unfortunately am not going to be able to march with the troop in 04 due to the distance and the sheer convinience of having another corps closer to my home. I will never forget the lessons learned from the Troop and I recommend anyone to march in this great and legendary corps. I would be if I could.

word.. I'd like to chime in too..

people have been saying this for years now, but this year, I believe, is really the year when the troop is going to make a comeback. for the high school kids who don't know, troopers basically revolutionized drum corps (and thus marching band) back in the 60's and 70's. Drum corps and band is what it is, because of the troop. They did things people had never thought possible before, and pushed the limits of perfection.. They also created the idea of doing a national tour (since there weren't many other drum corps to compete against way out in Wyoming). Corps like SCV and BD would not be what they are today without the troop and the contributions of its alumni who taught. At DCI, when they announce all of the div1 corps for opening ceremonies, few corps are cheered for as loudly as the troop. People love this corps.

Troop hasn't been very good in recent years, but like I said earlier, this is the year for change. Their new brass caption head is Jason Buckingham (Star of Indiana alumni -- for the kids who don't know, this is one of few universally recognized greatest corps of all time). He taught Blue Knights's hornline back when they were 6th and 7th place, beating corps like Phantom Regiment, Madison Scouts, etc. He then went to Crown, and while he was there they went from I think 17th place up to 9th in one year -- and 03 was a very tight competitive year. Good things happen when this guy is around, he's a very good instructor.

So seriously, if you've ever wanted to march a year that people will speak of as the year that a legend came back to life -- this is it.

LOL -- y'all can thank me for doing your homework assignment later :) My good bud Raysel marched Troopers and I have a soft spot for them because of it.

you know RayRay? ya, she is a good person to know, I know her from hawthorne, its just too bad she went to BD this year, well not too bad for her, she is marching one of the top corps in the world, but she's missing a lot of cool stuff at Troopers this year, she's what inspired me pretty much.

SONYA!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, folks just a reflex ,,,,,,

The Trooper are a definite Drum Corps experience, I spent 3 weeks with them this last summer(2003) and hope to get back on the bus with them in 2004 , I have been involved in this activity since 1979 and was blown away by the passion that this corps brings everyday,Every member understands their role, A true traveling drum corps( 8 weeks on the road).......Every city that this corps stops in has former members that come out and support the corps, support staff is top notch,

Thank you to Matt, Scott, Marcus and all the Trooper family for a summer that I will not forget anytime soon....

AL!

*huge hug* long time no see! I'm glad to hear you're doing well with Troopers.

tripletdiddle, yes, I know her. It's awesome that she made devs, I hope she enjoys it. She's cool... I'm still reeling over the part where her old band director has paid for every tour of hers for the last four years, and has offered to pay for this one as well.

its pretty cool

ya, our director is badass, he pays for everyone that cant afford it, he goes and finds sponsors for us, he says that money should not be an issue that keeps anyone from marching, he als said that if anyone makes the top 5, he will pay for everything there also, not just troopers. gotta love a guy like that.
