<<For some time now, Youth Education in the Arts (YEA!) has been searching for a new office location. As kind as the people in Bergenfield have been for the past 10 years, the operation has outgrown the space available.

Indeed, in an effort to push the matter forward, a letter was sent to the city manger, wherein George Hopkins advised the borough leaders that YEA! would be departing the city on or before Sept. 1, 2004. Discussions will be forthcoming so that said move is amicable.

Currently, YEA! operates with the following situations:

Crossmen trucks stored in Southern N.J.
Cadet trucks stored in Western N.J.
We use a storage trailer in Carlstadt, N.J.
We use a storage bin in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.
We build trophies in the hallway
Shipments of equipment and supplies are stored in trucks or outside
Uniforms are kept in trailers all winter

The search for a new location and new offices has led us to the Lehigh Valley. Our intention to become an asset within the community, the youth component of our programming, and out current involvement in the area led to some positive discussions with leaders in Allentown and the surrounding area.

Bill Speakman, the director of development for YEA! and the chair of the relocation committee, has spent a great deal of time at various facilities. Finally, in a visit a week or so ago, an agreement was reached internally regarding an exact location. There are still discussions to be held, and a tour or the facility for board members, but, in terms of progress, the organization is ever so close to announcing the relocation. Watch for an official announcement sometime in November or December.
