I was more surprised at the Disco Firebird! What would Stravinsky say?

Knowing Stravinsky, it probably wouldn't be very kind. Of course, if it had been Ravel (a disco version of "Bolero," let's say) he probably would've set fire to the building.

There's a lot about me you don't know. I met Baron Munchausen once, too.

I can remember the time that the Los Altos HS (Hacienda Heights) rifle section WON the Gong Show! True story.... should it be in the Book?

Wow...1976! That was way before Disco Classical's finest achievement in 1981:

Any of you older folks admit to owning a copy? My dad bought it, taped it and we used to listen to it in the car. I will say it was a decent way to get familiar with a bunch of themes in a hurry...if you didn't mind hearing "boom <CLAP> boom <CLAP>" along with them for the rest of your life.

I marched with the Kingsmen in '76, '77 & '78 and for the life of me, I don't remember that guy, nor the name. I do remember a guy (the guard was females only) from the drumline always tossing a rifle, and damn good at it. He's now the head of WGI...

I seem to recall reading on DCP or some place that the guy wasn't actually a member of the Kingsmen, but a member of SCV or some other corps. I forget the explanation as to why he was wearing a Kingsmen uniform on the show.

I'm glad to know he may not have been a member of the Kingsmen...I just figured my aging brain was doing it's job and erasing all recollection of...EVERYTHING!

His name is Bob Amaya. He was a member of the Redwood City Guardsmen first, then SCV and finally Anaheim. I remember him (and a few others) migrating from SCV to Anaheim at the end of 74 I think. Guard was a hobby for him. I believe Bob was actually a contra?? Last time I saw him he was performing with (or maybe just visiting???) the SCV alumni corps -- don't remember if that was in 97 or 02.

He is close friends with at least two of the current KAC rifle chicks.
