Post by bari_benzo » Sat Jul 19, 2003 5:50 am

[July 14, 2003] - West Covina High School was the site of the 2003 Corps at the Crest II on July 13 hosted by Pacific Crest and West Covina HS Band Boosters. The show also marked the debut of Yamato Drum and Bugle Corps at home in Southern California for the first time ever.

The morning block rehearsal at RCC was spent going over the performance. The members were noticeably nervous as they ran through the show a number of times. But as the morning progressed, the tempos settled in and the final run through was impeccable.

Gary Locke, Director of Marching at RCC just returned from a trip and witnessed the corps do its run through and commented on how great the corps sounded. "I'm impressed on how well Yamato is doing this year." Commented Gary. "I haven't seen Yamato perform live since 1998 when they won their DCI International Division title and first DCI 2 & 3 Finalist status. It's great to see the kids and the corps doing so well!"
