Actually I would have to say 3 of my favorites are definitly:

Madison Scout's 95 show - A Drum Corps Fan's Dream
Madison Scout's 96 show - A Drum Corps Fan's Dream (Part Dos)
Santa Clara Vanguard's 89 show - Phantom of the Opera

The Blue Devils have a tendency to do Channel One Suite. Three of their championships have had Channel One Suite in there somewhere.
Although, I do think they did it pretty damn well in '76.

They also had...quite possibly, the best hornline the likes of DCI has ever seen. Period.

Actually wait, the cadets have always been right up there with the devils percussion. This last year their drums outscored everyone. I saw them in Texas, and man, they were pretty DAMN good. But I'm still sticking with the 99 bd

RYTHMS...that was such a great show. I love the first two movements...Afrocuban/Malambo and Rhumba.
The drumline was so impressive...

99?

So what happened to the 99 BD drumline on finals night...Slammin all year...then they drop to 4th or 5th the night of finals?

And yes...Phantoms hornline this past season. Bow, in awe...Finals night, they took it up another notch...What a SOUND!!! The best...hornline that I have ever heard in person.

Sitting in the stands in Madison in August of 1999, halfway through the Blue Devils' show I said to myself: "Oh! They DO have a battery."

They didn't impress me. After a rockin' opener, the show just becomes BLAH and the battery disappears for several minutes.

I second what everyone else has said about 76 and 86 BD, though. Awesome, awesome, awesome. 1976 Blue Devils is one of the ONLY pre-1980s drum corps shows I enjoy listening to over and over again.
