Although I've never seen the shows myself, and I doubt if I ever will, I have MP3s of the 1994 Blue Devils, 1995 Cavaliers, and 1989 SCV, all 3 recorded from Championships, which all 3 won in those respective years. Anyway, they sound awesome, Cavaliers especially with "The Planets". I think though that the 89 SCV show, "Phantom Of The Opera", sounds the best of all though. Everything just sounds so clean...I can see...er...hear why that show had the highest score in DCI history until last year. :)

Yeah, and Vanguard didn't even win High Brass in 1989; Phantom did. ;)

I have every Finals from 1989 to the present. If you're ever in the Sacramento area, give me a call, you can come over and watch them. :D

Phantom Phan, I probably will stop by sometime - during one of the Mandarins Camp Weekends next season:D haha.

my favorite shows

1978 - Phantom Regiment - Firebird Suite - Classic Show Musically
1986 - Blue Devils - Channel 1 Suite
1989 - SCV - The Phantom of the Opera
1994 - Blue Devils - My Spanish Heart
1995 - Cavaliers - The Planets
2000 - Cavaliers - Niagara Falls

those just pop up when I think of GOOD shows - there are a lot more but those I just love... i have seen clips of 78 Regiment but still want to see the shows from the 80s ... all the 90s I have seen:D thanks to Wildabeast

Sounds great! I'll plan a road trip sometime...I'd love to see some of those performances, especially by Phantom Regiment and Star of Indiana.

MY fav shows

Post by Skippy » Thu Jul 17, 2003 4:45 pm

Well the very first year I marched drum corps the first Div 1 corps I ever saw was Santa Clara Vanguard 1999 I would have to say that will be my favorite show forever!! Everything was so Awesome about that show.

but here are my favorites since 1999 when I was first Introduced to this Awesome Activity.

1999 SCV--BD--Glassmen... and I have to add Pacific Crest 1999 the dracula show Was awesome!! a real ground breaker for them

2000 Boston Crusaders--Cavies--BD

2001 SCV--Cavies

2002 BD--Cavies--SCV

As you can tell I am partial to SCV for a few reasons

1. They are one of the few corps who still Marches an Awesome cymbal line!( I played cymbals in HS at CSUN and with Oregon Crusaders)

2. Their musicality never ceases to amaze me

3. They keep Traditions alive on the field while still maintaing a fresh hot look.

not to say any other corps does not do any of the above I just think Santa Clara Does it best;).....I will say though as far as Guard goes BD All the way man!!!

I've downloaded a lot of MP3's this past week, so I made a Top 10 of the best shows I've heard.

I haven't been a drum corps fan for very long, so I don't have a favorite corps yet, but the Blue Devils are coming close.

My top 10 shows are:

1. 1994 Blue Devils
2. 1996 Cadets
3. 1996 Phantom Regiment
4. 1991 Star Of Indiana
5. 2002 Cavaliers
6. 1998 Santa Clara Vanguard
7. 1989 Phantom Regiment
8. 1993 Star Of Indiana
9. 1989 Santa Clara Vanguard
10. 1998 Cavaliers

Now all I need is to see these shows (except 2002 Cavaliers) and I'll be a happy dude.

Those'll be hard to track down hehe, but I'll try to find them. I wish though that I could see my Top 10 shows and try to compare what's on the screen to the visions of the shows in my head. :(
