alright, all of the instruments i learned to play or wanted to play.

piano:
started when i was 4. so like ten years ago.
went to AFNA festival when i was in fourth/fifth grade, came in second
won first for divisions Count 11A in '03 and Count 13B last year.

so who's heard of AFNA? lol who are they? hahaha j/k
joined my middle and high school's jazz band.
rhythm section leader for my middle school's jazz band

recorder:
fourth and fifth. 'nuff said.

alto sax:
wanted to play in 6th grade.
never was able to make a sound for some reason :[

trombone:
had to pick it up in 6th grade.
stuck with it for three/four years now.

valved brass instruments:
played tuba one day in 6th grade and memorized the fingerings. i was an experienced pianist, so i could transpose the music.

guitar:
picked it up in sixth grade. i was the tech for the guitarist in my school's jazz band in 7th and 8th grade.

in 5th grade, a music teacher came to my school and let us try out instruments. i tried the clarinet first and was the only one there who could figure it out. but my uncle had a trumpet in his attic that he said i could have (an original Bundy (boo-ya (well... I like it))) and ever since then i have been basking in the glory of the high-brass legacy.

My first instrument I ever played was piano. But I was a kid when I started, then one of my elem. schools had a recorder ensemble in the 3rd grade. Then the 5th grade came along and I picked up the clarinet and fell in love with it. 6th grade I played Bass Clarinet due to we didn't have any.

My Sophomore year I played Baritone for marching band (instantly fell in love with it). Junior year I picked up trombone for Jazz Band and Concert season. Senior year I learned to play the Bass Cello. It was fun.

But my main instruments are clarinet and baritone. Clarinet because it was my actual first and it's just so much fun to play. And Baritone because it's "powerful" so to speak annnndddd drum corps don't allow woodwinds ;)

I wanted to play clarinet, but my mom said it was too common. :help: (dont attack me!)

so then I chose trumpet in 3rd grade. I still play it.
... and boom.

I took beggining winds class in 7th grade. I liked the flute 'cause it was small and shiny. 8-)

I started playing trumpet in the 3rd grade....In the sixth grade my parents would drive me to Reseda 3x a week to get trumpet lessons... (Claude Gordon).....Since I had a love for the Beatles, I started playing piano and guitar in the 7th grade...then Eddie Van Halen came on the seen and I was hooked.....I was signed to a record deal (Altlantic Records) by the age of 21 with a band called Slam n Groove...naturally it all fizzled down by the time I was 24...Went back to college, and became a Mech. Eng....I have been employed with Snap-on Tools for 16 years, and couldn't be happier :) ..

At RSM Intermediate, I was auditioning for the jazz band, and I was trying out for alto sax. My teacher asked which saxophone would I want to play if I didn't make alto. I said tenor, and if all else failed, I would play bari.
I ended up playing the bari because I was so bad at music apparently.
Turns out that it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me!

Drums was the one thing my mom didn't want me to play, so naturally they're what I picked. :D

I started off with violin, but I gave up in less than a year because my hands were too small. Then I started piano (around 2nd grade) and it seriously helped me a lot learning other instruments. Eventually I picked up flute, oboe, tuba, and finally percussion (yay drumline!). I really want to learn french horn though!!!

Wow. Usually the switch would happen the other way around.

And I do imagine that switch must've been quite difficult indeed
