Jerry Goldsmith wrote the music to the first Mummy movie. Danny Elfman wrote the theme-song to "The Simpson's."

That's funny I could have sworn Alf Clausen wrote it. It says it on Sibelius.com and on the cartoon too. :?:

Danny Elfman wrote the theme. Alf Clausen writes the music you hear in the episodes.

Yep. What threw me off was that she originally said "that Simpson's song," so I thought she was talking just about the theme song. :?

Personally, I've found myself a fan of the later Romantic period and so on, but I still enjoy earlier stuff also. My favorite composers include Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Mahler, Bartok, Rachmaninoff, Rimsky-Korsakov, Debussy, Elgar, Chopin, Ligeti, Kancheli, Mussorgsky, Vaughan Williams, Messiaen, Piazzolla, Bax, Tchaikovsky and Schnittke,... just to name a few. I have adored and loved so many works by so many composers, to list them all would take forever. Favorite film score composers include Elfman, Horner, and Tan Dun. Being in many music ensembles over the years, the name that stick out in my mind are Grainger, Gillingham, and Ticheli.

I really enjoy the music of Bach. He wrote some cool pieces for the Harpsichord, and that rocks, cause I love the Harpsichord.

I like a lot of John Williams stuff, very well put together.

Also a name that hasn't been mentioned, would be Klaus Badelt, I think he did a wonderful job with Pirates of the Caribbean. Altho some parts of "The Black Pearl" (and some other songs) reminded me of Barbarian Horde from Gladiator (and other hans zimmer work), (which coincidently Hans Zimmer happens to be Klaus's mentor  ).

Whoever said that Williams' music is mostly remembered for the movies it's been on is right. I can't think of the Star Wars theme without first thinking of Star Wars itself.

I really, really dislike Swearingen's music. I remember playing many pieces by him back then. I liked playing Erickson's music last year: "Air for Band" in Symphonic Band; "Toccata for Band" in Wind Ensemble; and "Elijah Rock" in 2nd period Marching Band (1st semester, after the season was over).

My favorites have, and always will be, Jonh Williams, Hanz Zimmer, and Alan Menken. They are all amazing people who I highly admire. I wish I had the talent that these people do.
