REED PLAYERS

Great reed story I just heard from a student at a nearby high school:

Clarinet player played on the same reed the entire year. She always ate before playing, and never even took the reed off the mouthpiece during that time. It sat all summer, and then when they came back to play this year her clarinet wouldn't work. They had to literally chip away at the reed becuase it was stuck on there so hard, and when it came off the entire mouthpiece was filled with maggots that then started to crawl out. Lesson learned: take better care of your reeds! All I know is that this has given me a great story to tell my middle school students when I see them neglecting their instruments.

over a year... ahhh, the beauty of synthetic reeds... and no, i didnt only use that reed in that time, i used others for different types of playing...

Ewww....synthetic reed. I can't stand those, it just isn't the same as a real one. I tried one when I lacked reed money and my BD gave me it. Worst. Sound. Ever.
