What are people's favorite jazz artists?

Of course, it'll probably be difficult to make a specific list, but you can list a few.

I'll start it off with just one of mine:

Miles Davis

It is all about Charlie Parker for me! Nothing in the world compares to listening to the sweet sounds coming out of his horn.

To be honest, since I play professionally, music doesn't relax me to listen to it recreationally. I love old time radio (OTR). But even these shows have great musicians.

For you fellow tubists, I suggest you listen to the Fat Man (American version, not the Australian version). The theme music is a virtuistic tuba solo. Most of the shows had wonderful orchestras. Radio stations used to hire a complete in-house orchestra that worked a full 35+ hour week on the air about 60-70 years ago.

There were also musical shows that were great, too.

Y'all should try out Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band.

Besides the lists already posted, I like Chuck Mangione, and Arturo Sandoval.
