Well, lets see...
Valencia (Placentia, CA)
Symphonic Band:
The View from the Mountaintop
Symphonic Overture
Concert Band:
American Folk Fantasy
Symphonia 6 (Movement 2 - 4)
Festivo
Only thing that sucks about the concert band is that it is really tiny and some what lacking in instruments. I hope we do great with these this year.

there's a trumpet concerto too, but i don't remember the name.
we have a pretty good selection of music, i think i'm forgetting something, but i'm not sure what. we're playing these at the CMEA state convention in Pasadena next month.
Symphonic Band is playing:
Inchon- Smith
First Suite in Eb
2nd Suite in F --- both by holst
Rise of the Firebird
we're combining together for our concert with the middle and elementary school bands, that's why some songs are on both lists.

yeah, it's a killer clarinet solo. I play e-flat clarinet though, so I rest for about 3/4 of the the song... I still like it though. It's fun!edbandchick wrote:The second chair clarinet at my school would be so jealous! He REALLY wants to play Blue Shades, haha. He's a funny guybgirl781 wrote:right now we're playing Blue Shades...

Quack!
Quack!
I really liked New Century Dawn. We played it on the field, though, last season, so it was much shorter than the original.bgirl781 wrote:right now we're playing Blue Shades, Pastime, and New Century Dawn, and we should probably be getting Equus next week. We've also got other songs that we're not playing right now, but are still in our folders. I can't remeber all of them right now...

Valdres
yeah we were suppost to play Symphonic Movement and Valdres but our band director switched Valdres to Toccata. Personnaly I liked Valdres better because I think it more musical then Toccata. Whats your guys opinon for people that have played both Valdres and Toccata? Wich one do u guys think is a more musical song?

Do you mean the Frescobaldi "Toccata"? If so, they are both wonderful pieces. I don't think you can really compare them terms of one being more "musical" Presuming that you are refering to the Nehlybel "Symphonic Movement" I can see where "Toccata" would be a better contrasting piece because of the slow openng section.
