Beginning theory? Advanced theory? Orchestration theory?

In college I was taught theory with the "Music: In Theory and Practice" books by Bruce Benward and Gary White (Fifth Edition). Volumes 1&2 are good starting points for theory.

The Fifth Edition was put out in 1993, so they're probably up to edition seven or eight by now. Still, I recommend them, and you can probably find them at a college bookstore.

Of course it would have to a college that uses that book. Before you drive out to SDSU or Point Loma, etc. Give the book store a call. You would also have to go at a time when the books are in stock.

An even better idea would be to go to Amazon.com. They have it listed

The thing is, I don't go to college, don't even know where the college book store is, so I think I will just have Alans Music order it. Would that work?

There are some online sites available:

http://www.musictheory.net/
http://www.musicarrangers.com/star-theory/

I'm sure there are others, but take a look at those.
