i hope this isnt taken as spam...just trying to get some word out there...

i play in a swing band: High Stakes Swing!

we are an 11 piece neo-swing outfit, and, as far as we know, the only band of this kind with people as young as us...our ages range from 16-21. all of the members attend Poway HS, Rancho Bernardo HS, Rancho Buena Vista HS, or Palomar College. maybe you know some of us or have seen some High Stakes Swing flyers floating around.

as i said, we are a neo-swing band. for those of you who arent familiar with this style, it has been described as more aggressive swing music, classic ideas with a modern edge, you could say. the sound has been made popular by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Phat Cat Swinger, and other bands like that. we are also influenced heavily by the San Diego band Big Time Operator...hopefully some people on here know them.

now, i said we are a neoswing band (twice). however, we do our best to mix some other cool stuff in there too. we play some funk, some latin, some gospel style, bebop...whatever else you could think of really. even some good old rock in there somewhere.

High Stakes Swing has a show on April 30th. It's at The Metaphor Cafe in Escondido, CA, 258 East 2nd Ave. if any of you WoP folks are close by, and i know some of you are, and are interested in hearing some swing music, stop by for a while.

2 shows, 7 PM and 930PM
$5.00 each
