Does Any one have a good Idea for a Brass Quartet?

I was thinking about having a brass quartet, quintet, ect.......I am mainly lookin for two or three trumpets, one or two trombones, and one tuba or baritone/euphonium. Any Ideas would be greatly appriciated. It doenst matter the type of music, anywhere from classical, swing, jazz, anything that sounds good.Thank you

Well, you might be able to get some major ideas if you can hit Long Beach or Palm Desert this weekend. The Canadian Brass will be in concert.

I have seen there show while they were down here in San Diego. I have a lot of their CD's and I think that they are one of the best Brass bands

For a quartet, you'll want 4 players.
For a quintet, you'll want 5 players.

What I am actually loking for is what kind of piece should we perform??
I was thinking of simple music from a movie or something, but I think that will not go well so I need some other ideas!!!!

The kind of music you select is based upon what your goal for performance is. If you are just doing it to have fun playing then I would suggest getting a little bit of everything. Most of the gigs I had playing with a brass quintet were doing weddings and church services so we needed a lot of classically oriented music. The best place to start looking is with G. Gabrielli. You may be able to find some of his music for free in libraries. If you are going to try the Canadian Brass stuff start with the easier pieces. Starting a new ensemble can be very difficult if you haven't played without a conductor before. They have some levelled books that could make starting a library pretty easy.

If you go to a university and take brass chamber music or brass ensemble courses, there is a very high chance that the first brass music publisher you encounter will be non other than Robert King Music Publishers (now called Robert King Music Sales). Established in 1940 and with over 28,000 brass music titles in their inventory, I would suggest you begin where most of brass players began... Robert King Music has long been called the "holy grail of brass music". Once you begin this quest, you will be well on your way to "brass chamber music" at its finest.
