Swearingen. Ugh. :vomit:
Well... tell me how you really feel. No, j/k. I really like Swearingen's pieces because they are about the only thing with a somewhat difficult mallet part that I will ever be allowed to play. I kinda liked The Light Eternal by Swearingen also.

Eh, I don't really think much of Swearingen's music either, although not to the degree of Phantom Phan.

Oh my... I played Novena, too... about 12 years ago now. UGH.

Hey cute nerd, if you want some nice mallet parts check out Kabelevsky's "Dance of the Comedians" or just about any piece by David Gillingham.

i played covington square in 7th grade, and then moved to benicia and played it in 8th grade(which made me really happy cuz it was my favorite song in 7th). Then later that year in 8th grade we played novena, which i loved even more, and reaaallly wanted those piccolo solos, which i didn't get cuz i wasn't 1st chair
:( but then at 8th grade promotion we played it and at last minute the director told anyone who knew how, to play the part, and i was sooo excited cuz i had it memorized! Great ending MS memories...
but anyway, i think swearingen is fine for elementary and MS bands, but as you get more advanced his songs start to seem really boring...

I've played a Swearingen song about every year I've ever been in band. It's disturbing.

there is a song, that I know I am destined to play anytime I switch bands. That song, Cajun Folksongs by Frank Tichelli. This is my third year playing it, with three different groups. I mean c'mon. Good piece, just I have had enough with it.
Conan: "I really don't think you're that bad of a guy..."

Salesman: "Oh but I am...if you'll remember I just tried to sell you Baboon Adrenaline."

We're playing that song in our second group. It's a good piece, but I don't really like it as much as some other Ticheli pieces. Maybe I'm just used to his harder pieces.
