Phantom Phan wrote:Surprisingly (to me, at least) I've started work on a march. It's in 6/8, and I've got the entire intro and first strain complete.

I wrote about 12-14 marches in High School and the first year or two of college. I noted with amazement that this is the first march I've written in ten years.

I need a title for it. Maybe I'll hold a naming rights contest here. :)
"World of Pageantry", of course!

Heh. Maybe.

Naturally, I finished the top half of the march and haven't touched it in about two months because I haven't found the time/urge/inspiration to sit down and write the trio. These streaks are typical of my composing style. At least I have the idea for a four measure trio intro. I decided I wanted to do something different, though, so I'm not having a dogfight. So I'm trying to think up a trio melody and variation that will sound good being played back-to-back...

cosmicirony7 wrote:I would suggest Finale. It's kind of expensive I suppose, but it's worth it if you're real serious about writing music. You can also download Finale Notepad if you don't want to pay for the full version of Finale. It doesn't have as many features, but it works well enough.

You can get more info if you go here: http://www.finalemusic.com/index.asp
i love finale! you COULD buy it... or download the crappy finale notepad... or you could pirate it from someone and make up your own software key (that program is very gullible by the way). but i would advise not pirating the software if it's going on a computer with internet access. there's a possibility that you could get tracked down and fined for oodles and oodles of money.
