Carolyn Mae Jantsch from Mount Vernon, OH, is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy. She is attending the University of Michigan. Click here to view a video of Carolyn's performance at the 2003 Scholarship Awards ceremony.

This girl is one serious tuba player.... WOW!

Fantastic.

I sat through so many OOM-PAHS in my days on the tuba... I realize it's such a vital part of forming a strong base for an ensemble, but it really is fun to cut loose on it. The instrument has an enormous range and sounds good in just about every register, and in the hands of a skilled player it's remarkably agile, too.

Nice performance.

More tuba stuff

If you want to hear a mind numbing tuba lick, click the link below. It is Patrick Sheridan on tuba from his "Lollipops" CD, clip is from track titled Hailstorm.

Hailstorm clip from Amazon.com (sorry... for Windows Media player only)

Patrick Sheridan and Sam Pilafian (NAMES?)will be performing at Vista Murrieta High School on June 4th along with the VMHS concert band. This should be a great show. The show will include "Flight of the Tuba Bee"

I am pretty sure the show is open to the public.

Contact Mr. Wade Director of Instrumental Music at the school for more info.

Sheridan AND Pilafian?

WOW. That is a CAN'T MISS concert if you're a low brass player/fan. I have to check my schedule.

Wow funny how I just happened to stumble across this thread...
We are awesome
The only trouble was that I was the first girl to be a tuba player in my band for a few years so I think I kinda ruined the whole "guy" thing that they had going on...
so things were kinda weird but it's ok...
I still love my section!! :vomit:

Carol Jantsch, 20, beat out 194 other hopefuls for the vacant tuba seat.

The Philadelphia Orchestra has hired Carol Jantsch for its vacant tuba spot, making her the only - and possibly the first - female tuba player in a major full-time American orchestra.
It looks like I may have called this one... I heard her recordings and knew she was somethig special. To read the full article click the link below:
