Is Bass guitar a difficult part to do for Jazz band in your opinion? How much experience do you think is needed? (I know it depends on the person and the songs and a bunch of other things, but...)This is just an opinion for someone who wants to do it ^_^

i think bass parts are hard and the bass player need to be a really good musician to pull it off....
i also think that bass sounds like crap unless its played the right way and well... :(

I'm learning to play bass for this year's jazz band too. I play guitar already, does anybody have any tips for a person going from guitar to bass?

I just picked up the bass guitar and so far I'm in love with it! I hope to get proficient enough to where I can perform everything on the pep band set list. I just have 3 songs that I can do ok and those are Paradise City, Louie Louie and Green Onions. I have to work on the fight songs a bit since they are meant for tubas. I'm hoping that the band budget can get a bigger amp because my 15 watt amp can hardly be heard in the 6000 seat arena.
