i'm most likely getting my very own tenor saxaphone for this next school year! yes very exciting, but, i was wondering about all the good types of saxes, i know selmer, bundy, and veto are really awsome brands. what are other good types? and which ones besides jupiter and yamaha shouln't i look into buying?

What do you mean besides Yamaha? A silver-plated YTS 875 custom is a force to be reckoned with.

its the player not the sax my man.. lol, but im on my schools selmer.. and i really really like it.

Well, any good sax will dent easily. Professional models are not made as hard as the student models are because it is expected that you aren't going to use them for marching or anything and will take extreme care of them...

Wait, are you getting this for marching, jazz, or concert?

i wouldnt go with a bundy just an opinion but I would go with a selmer paris for sure or the yamaha custom z series but I also like the yanagisawa saxes but as for my set up I currently use a classic sax many u may know of called the selmer mark 6 its great and I love its rich tone ahhh and as for some added info, john coltrane the famous jazz musician used the same model

In a jazz setting, a Mk. 6 of course would be ideal. Got 6k lying around? I'd say get a silver Yamaha YTS 875 custom. I play one and it sounds awesome.

The big thing is, how much are you fixin' to spend. The saying"you get what you pay for" is realy true with an instrument. Set you price, then see what is out there. WWBW.Com (Woodwind Brasswind music)is great resource to tell how much instrument you cna afford.

Bundy's are bad. They are made by Selmer (I think?) and they are just lower quality than Selmer. Don't get a Bundy.

THANK YOU so cal saxy05 yes bundy's are terrible especially if u are talking about the student horns not a big fan of selmer usa its all about the french made selmers in paris

I say go try them out and see for yourself. If you have a saxophone teacher, take them with you (don't forget your parents, they'll be paying for it). Even the best saxophones aren't for everyone. One thing to consider, do you intend to play for a very long time, or for a short time? In other words, do you want something that'll just do the job, or do you want something you're going to use perhaps as a professional?

Well I wish I could have gotten to this topic sooner. I have a cannonball sax. Its really nice and gives a nice tone. It also looks really cool. I hope you are happy with your selmer.
