Jazz Solo Pieces
Does anyone know of Jazz solo pieces perhaps for alto sax that show a variety of skills (can be used for an audition)?
No regrets

I'd say go for some Charlie Parker if you want to showcase your technical merit. I'd reccomend Ornithology. It's an up tempo chart (as is most of Parker's book, of course) that you have probably heard. It may appear easy, but it has the Eb key signature of E major. It can be put really fast into muscle memory, but played with the right inflection, it is a force to be reckoned with. It is a head chart however, but there are books that have his solo transcribed, so you can play that. I highly recommend the book "In Session with Charlie Parker," if you can find it. Great for musical selections and practice purposes.
There are a number of alto ballads out there as well, but none come to mind at this moment. I'll let you know if I think of one.

Obviously, the 'J' is for Jesbo.
And the 'B', well...that's for Burnination
