Trumpet mouthpiece
Hello, I am a college freshman majoring in music education, and I'm looking to add jazz studies as a major. My primary instruments are french horn (concert) and trumpet (jazz). I've been playing both instruments for 5 years now, and haven't had much of an issue with transitioning until this year, as I've been practicing and playing both instruments much more than I have before. The issue I'm having is how playing one instrument "too much" affects my tone on the other. I want to get a new trumpet mouthpiece that is similar to a french horn mouthpiece so that I can avoid this issue as much as possible. I'm currently playing on a standard beginner french horn mouthpiece and a Bach 5C for my trumpet. If you have any information that could help me, please let me know. Thank you!

Re: Trumpet mouthpiece
Mouthpiece choice is pretty much up to you, your chops and what you are playing.
Your best bet is to go to your local music store and...try out mouthpieces. Make sure they have more than 1-2.
I have had great results with the mouthpieces from Xtreme Brass & Percussion. I play on a WD 2TR and it has been great.
Whichever choice you make remember, it must be YOURS and not someone else's opinion.

Re: Trumpet mouthpiece
As now you started playing horn mouth piece so you should use with J, G and F cups available all over in a larger shank. As a players use Schmid, Hoyer horns, etc. and also now you use laskey mouthpieces made specifically for those instruments.Because the shank is slightly larger in diameter, it will not go in as far a the standard shank.
