Europe more open to non-mainstream ensembles

Post by Bandmaster » Mon Aug 05, 2013 2:17 pm

I have noticed, while surfing YouTube, that Europe seems to be much more open to non-mainstream performance ensembles. Here in the U.S. only the top 40 pop groups get any television time, press attention or sell out many concerts. There are many off-beat brass groups in Europe that are making a name for themselves. I found one yesterday the peak my interest... their name is Da Blechhauf'n and they are a brass band with 3 trumpets, 3 trombones and a helicon (tuba). Many of their videos show that they have a large following and play to packed houses. Great musicians with a great act. Check them out...

And their playing abilities are really shown off in this chorale from one of their albums entitled "Gabriellas Song". (Awesome tuba playing I might add.) A drum corps should arrange this one for their brass line!
