The End of an Era! Mr. Gary Wampler will be conducting his LAST Spring Show Friday May 10, at 7pm in the Fountain Valley High School Gymnasium. Come be a part of History! Tickets are $10.
More details: Mr. Wampler started his career at Marina High School in 1976, and taught there for six years. He started teaching at Fountain Valley High School in 1982 and will retire in January 2014. (That will be 38 years in the Huntington Beach Union High School District!) Mr. Wampler started playing drums at the age of 6. He played drum set with the Lawrence Welk Band at the age of 14. He is an alumni both at Fountain Valley and Marina High School. In 1972, Mr. Wampler performed with the Kingsmen Drum & Bugle Corps and was DCI’s first World Champion. At California State Long Beach, Mr. Wampler was a music education major and performed in the marching band and wind ensemble. Mr. Wampler’s many accolades include being inducted into the Teacher Hall of Fame at Marina High School in 1986. He was voted Teacher of the Year at Fountain Valley in 2007. In 2010, he earned Coca Cola’s National Teacher of Distinction Award. In 2013, Mr. Wampler received the Outstanding Music Educator award from Walt Disney World Performing Arts.

Mr. Wampler will be conducting a “FVRR Staff Tribute”. Over 58 strings, 150 band members & color guard, along with his staff (and a few former students from 1982) will join in performing this Epic Song! Dont miss it!

Addendum: Mr. Wampler's last teaching day is January 24, 2014. This means he will have one more season of marching band...and sources say it should be good.
