Dear Jazz Band Directors,
Happy New Year! Its time to decide which jazz festival to add to your spring calendar and I hope you make space on May 1st, 2010. Moorpark High School will be hosting a Jazz Festival on Saturday, May 1st 2010 in our Performing Arts Center at Moorpark High School.
Last years festival was a huge success with a panel of 10 judges and clinicians with 25 performing ensembles. We featured ensembles from Middle Schools, High Schools, College and a Professional Ensemble for the students and Directors enjoyment. The judges used digital recorders for superior quality and the ensembles were given CDs. The Moorpark High School Band Boosters had great food going all day and this year we plan to add pictures and recordings available for order.
This Festival will feature exhibition performances by the California State University, Northridge A Band under the direction of Matt Harris as well as the B Band under the direction of Gary Pratt. We are currently assembling a panel of educators and professional musicians to provide comments and clinics throughout the day. Every performance will receive a clinic immediately following the festival from one of the judges.
I look forward to hearing from you all. Please get all applications and checks in by April 13th, 2010 to:
