I would like to invite established and emerging composers to premier works for band with my group. Does anyone have any insight about where to find band composers?

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't understand the question...

Do you mean where can you find their music? Where can you find recordings of their music? Where do they live? Where do they work?

Please clarify.

CBDA convention, CMEA conference, Mid-Western, networking, to name a few sources. It is thrilling when you find a new piece, or composer, or even commission a new work. :D

Sometimes I am willing/interested in just bringing in the sheet music, but other times I want to bring in the composer him/herself. I think composers should look to successful and skilled band programs to workshop, test, experiment. And this could be a great place for a world premier of a piece and can help on the road to publication.

If you're looking to the "future", try the local university for music composition majors.

Yup. If you're looking for composers that are still writing music today, go to conventions for the CBDA, CMEA, etc.

Universities are also a good choice, such as Frank Ticheli at USC.

Why not find a composer who has written a piece you like and contact their publisher? They should be able to get you in touch with him/her. Quite a few composers have their own websites too.

In the unemployment line, haha!!

No, seriously why not try asking around at your local college and/or University?
