A drill team, and dance team a marching band with no guard..

I am new to this high school and we have just added the schools drill team to the marching band. The marching band has a seperate Dance team, and no color guard...what is the role of the drill team with the marching band, i am puzzled...

First off, what is your position with this new high school! I'm personally kind of confused to why the marching band has a Dance Team but no Color Guard.
Second-Is this Dance Team performs with the Marching Band at field shows & parades or what do they do.
Finally-When I was in High School. Drill Team did similiars parts on what a Color Guard would do on the field. For expect DT is mainy doing different stuff with poms and flags and etc...
