For us

Post by xtrmdrummer1 » Tue Nov 12, 2002 10:05 pm

Typically, we would have one sectional a week on top of the normal band practices. It was 2 hours long, with at least 1 of our staff. It was between the 2 weekly night rehersals, so it gave us a chance to clean up what we did the night before for the next evening rehersal. For practice, i must say, it was quite a good time :D !

sectionals

 my bad... I clicked hap-hazardly. I'm the one vote that's 9+ but I really meant 6 hrs. At USC, we normally have a Tuesday night rehearsal to go over the new show music and Saturday morning sectionals to review.

In high school (Torrance), we had after school rehearsal M, W, Th, and F from 2-3 hrs apiece. We also had 0-1 period in the morning. No wonder we were in Div. I, ey? Man, that seems like a lot now but back then, it was normal.

Practice, Practice, Practice!!

This year our percussion captain noticed that our percussion group is a little young this year (young=newbies). Because of that he decided that we needed a lot of practice. We had sectionals every Tuesday and Friday and practice with the rest of the band Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Fridays we're fun because we always had dinner after but it was still hard work. Though this past weekened was the first time we recieved best percussion we still appreciate what our captain did for us. And the practice was and has been worth it. We all hope we do good this weekened. See you there!

for our school is is diff according to your schedule and section but snares and tenors are:

Monday: 3.5 hours

Tuesday: 2 hours

Thursday: 2 hours

Friday (no gym): 3.5 hours

friday (with gym): 5 hours

And then theres randomly scheduled sectionals on holidays/saturdays and what not.
There is nothing more scary than a kid with an internet connection.

We are only practicing six hours a week right now because because we don't have much gym time or any drill. But we do get a seventh period credit though.

Practice time also depends on if there's a show on Saturday, if yes, we practice an extra 4-5 hrs or so that week... and then of course practicing at the show site... sometimes on the weekends we have "camps" too...

I'm in RIPE and we practice on Sunday's from 3:30 to 8:00 and once a month 12:00 to 8:00.
I'm still Red, but blue thoughts are clouding my mind. Those who know drum corps know what I'm talking about.
