Djembe Anyone?

Post by thegodfaughnder » Thu Jan 06, 2005 6:43 pm

Just wondering if they're any other guys (or girls) on here that play djembe. I love playing it in acoustic jams and i play in my praise band. I don't know too many people that play but i think its an extremely versatile drum. If any of you play, i was wondering if you knew of any drum circles anywhere in san diego.

Yay! Minh knows how to play djembe! Now he can teach me! :wink wink nudge nudge eh eh:  hehehe.
I heart african and latin percussion! It's so fun. And now at Chapman U, they have a hand drum professor. It's so cool!

You guys should try a Surdo(sp?), its the brazillian version of the djembe where you hit with one stick. or a Repenique, a smaller version of a surdo.

One of the best parts of every weekend for me is playing hand percussion - congas, bongos, timbales, mucho accessories (and an occasional djembe) in an awesome worship band 3 times every Sunday! It's definately a different experience than when you sit and drum (almost qualifies as a workout some days!) and is a lot of fun.
