GOLD ANNOUNCES IKE JACKSON AS NEW PERCUSSION DESIGNER

Oceanside, CA – Gold Drum and Bugle Corps announced today that WGI World Champion percussion instructor, Ike Jackson is joining the corps’ design team for the 2011 summer.

“Ike is an amazing instructor and designer who comes with an impressive competitive and professional resume.” explained Executive Corps Director, Dr. Donald Flaherty, “The man has seen everything percussion from winning a DCI World Championship ring in 1994 with the Concord Blue Devils to helping his own ensembles win WGI World Championship medals and finalist placements. I couldn’t be more excited to have Ike leading our percussion design team. He’s just the guy we needed to help the corps make the turn to becoming a nationally competitive corps.”

Ike Jackson has been working with Ayala High School in Chino Hills, CA since 1991. In his 20 years as a percussion instructor, he has worked with more than 35 different percussion programs at the high school, college, and drum corps levels. His Southern California roots have given him the opportunity to serve the role of Vice President and founding member of the Southern California Percussion Alliance. He is also a member of the Winter Guard International Percussion Advisory Board, a member of Pro-Mark Indoor Percussion Development Team, and is a co founder of Xymox pads.

“I am very excited to be a part of Gold this year,” Ike Jackson said, “I hope to help the organization grow and develop into a world class Drum Corps.”

The percussion line is scheduled to begin their auditions on January 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Laguna Hills High School. Any interested performers should check the website (http://www.golddrumcorps.org) for more information.
