ADLA Rule Question

Post by Chris Case » Thu Jan 07, 2010 9:20 am

What is ADLA's rule on adjusting sound boards. Is it O.K. for staff to adjust, must be a student or set it and forget it?

Please provide a rule quote. I could not find a rule book on-line.

Thanks,
Chris Case

Chris,

This is from last year's rulebook. These are sent out through e-mails to participating instructors/directors, usually few weeks prior to the first show.

---
E. Amplification Equipment:
1. Once amplification has been set and the performance time begins, it cannot be modified by a non-
uniformed or non-performer during a performance.

2. Amplification equipment can be placed either inside or outside of the performance area.
3. If amplification controls are set outside the performance area (i.e. in front of the front boundary
line), no adjustments can be made by anyone once the performance time has started. Disqualification is
appropriate as deemed necessary by the Head Judge for any infractions.
4. Power cords, cables, microphone stands, speaker stands and speaker cabinets laying across the front
boundary line will not be assessed a penalty.
5. Other equipment/instrument(s) or stands lying across the front boundary line will be assessed a
penalty.
---

So no to staff and yes to performers for mixer adjustments.

Hope that helps,
